Relaxing, the tropical way
31 August 2026 06:17 pmThe primary objective of this trip was to relax and unwind. And at this kind of resort, the best places to do this are on the beach or poolside. There were plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas on the beaches here, even though the sea water wasn't particularly appealing with all the seaweed that was washing ashore (something we remembered from our previous visit). In any case, the life guards had red flags up of dangerous conditions, so we never entered the water. But we did sit on the beach for some of our time here.
But the majority of our down time was spent poolside, either at the enormous main pool (I believe the resort claims that it is the largest in Latin America), or at the quieter, more secluded sanctuary pool. Both were lovely, with poolside bars, more than adequate lounge chairs and cabanas, and waiters ready to bring drinks and food. The pool water was almost uncomfortably warm, so I didn't stay in the pool for long, but I dropped into the water periodically to cool off from the heat and humidity, which were (unsurprisingly) high, even in the shade.

We slept in too late so see any sunrises on the beach, which faced the east, but we went for a walk on the beach the very first evening, right after we arrived at the resort, and saw a spectacular sunset behind the resort.
