Tataouine's Earth Memory Museum

 After lunch in Chenini, on our way back to our hotel, we made a short stop at the Earth Memory Museum in Tataouine. This region of Tunisia is rich with fossils, and this museum displays an interesting collection of geological artifacts, including desert roses (crystal formations that form in desert sands), petrified wood, and various flora and fauna fossils. Our guide in the museum described some of the geologic history of Tunisia, and also talked about how this region of Tunisia is scheduled to be designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark later this year.
